Must Watch Manufacturers In 2017
Manufacturing technologies are evolving fast, but never as fast as they as will in 2017. For one, manufacturers are rushing to include advances in technology, such as artificial intelligence and advanced analytics, in their manufacturing processes. Needless to say, the impact of these new technologies is changing the manufacturing sector altogether.
One factor that also impacts the sector is the global political climate. Of note are the recent changes in administration in the US and European politics, especially the Brexit vote. For a deeper look into these and more manufacturing trends to watch out for in 2017, read on.
Trade Tensions – Recent political changes in both the US and Europe have put the freedom of international trade in question. In the US, for instance, Donald Trump was sworn in as president in January 2017. Donald Trump had also issued a statement that he is not eager on some of the trade meals that happened in the past administration.
One such deal is the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TTP), a trade deal between the US and 12 Pacific-Rim countries. The TTP is now good as dead because of the administration of Donald Trump. The other deal at risk is the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), a deal with Europe. The future of the TTIP is still not sure and is still uncertain even though it is not yet dead. The withdrawal of UK to the European union has probably brought the biggest political change in Europe. The continental Europe and UK will surely have a hard time with regard to withdrawals since UK has already withdraw from the European Union. Another bad thing from this withdrawal is that, many European countries has also been affected by the withdrawal of UK from European Union. Based on experts, in order to normalize the relationship with each countries, companies need to negotiate with each other. This explains why small business manufacturers need to adapt new business environment so that there will be a good relationship with each other.
Computerized Maintenance Management System or simply known as CMMS will also bring new change this 2017. To keep the manufacturing process moving, businesses must conduct routine maintenance. This can be compared to fixing a broken window to repairing a manufactured tool. Sometimes, the maintenance that a company can offer is not enough, thus, it is really important that the maintenance increases its efficiency, profits and the production line’s lifespan.
The CMMS system now has a goal which is to store, track and record maintenance data.
